Lower night-time cortisol
Cortisol is the body's primary stress and wake hormone — it should peak in the morning and fall to near-zero at night. Chronic stress flattens that curve, which is closely tied to poor sleep.
In the Ghaly & Teplitz pilot, 12 people slept grounded for eight weeks. Their night-time cortisol dropped and the 24-hour rhythm re-aligned with the natural circadian profile — and most reported falling asleep faster with less pain and stress.

Shift into "rest & digest"
Your autonomic nervous system has two gears: sympathetic ("fight-or-flight") and parasympathetic ("rest-and-digest"). Heart-rate variability (HRV) — the subtle variation between heartbeats — is a key marker of that balance, and higher HRV is associated with recovery and calm.
Chevalier's review found grounding produced an almost immediate shift toward parasympathetic activity and improved HRV, alongside falls in skin conductance, a measure of stress arousal.

Thinner blood, better flow
Red blood cells carry a negative surface charge (zeta potential) that makes them repel one another and flow freely. When that charge drops, cells clump and blood thickens — a factor in cardiovascular risk.
After two hours of grounding, subjects' zeta potential rose by an average of 2.7×, and red-cell clumping fell measurably — meaning thinner blood and easier circulation.

Faster muscle recovery
When muscles are damaged by hard exercise, the enzyme creatine kinase (CK) leaks into the blood, and delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) sets in over the next day or two.
In a University of Oregon study, participants who recovered grounded showed significantly lower CK leakage and less soreness than a sham-grounded group — pointing to grounding's role in dampening inflammation and speeding repair.

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then air dry or tumble low. Skip bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets — they can coat the silver threads and reduce conductivity. Because the silver is naturally antibacterial, the sheet stays fresher and needs washing far less often than regular bedding. With light care, conductivity lasts for years.
